Jazz Band rehearsals are held Wednesday's
from the beginning of
January through the beginning of June.

Jazz Band Eligibility Requirements
South Jazz Lab Band - 2:30-3:15pm
Lab Band is open to all South Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone & Rhythm players (don't play one of these instruments? You could always learn!) who are interested in learning about and playing jazz. Instrumentation is flexible. Students may be broken up into small combos. No audition is required, however you must be registered for a music class.
Southern Express Big Band - 3:15-4:00pm
Members are accepted into Big Band by audition. Instrumentation follows traditional Big Band setup.
In order to be eligible to audition, students must be members of the Concert Band.
High School students who attend South must be registered for a Concert Band class. South students who are unable to take a Concert Band class can apply to participate in Block 7 Band and would be governed by the rules for that ensemble. Acceptance into Block 7 Band will be handled on a case by case basis.
High school students who do not attend South must participate in Block 7 Band.
